Peptide Therapy

A Carefully Selected Adjunct to Traditional Psychiatry

At TMS of South Tampa, our focus remains on established, evidence-based treatments, including Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). In select cases, targeted peptide therapies may be considered as a limited adjunct for patients who have not achieved adequate results or who prefer to minimize traditional medication use. Peptide therapy is not a replacement for standard psychiatric care. It is considered selectively, discussed transparently, and monitored carefully for benefit and tolerability.

What Are Peptides?

Peptides are short chains of amino acids that can influence signaling in the brain and body. Certain peptides are being explored for their potential effects on anxiety, stress response, sleep, cognition, and neurobiological resilience. These treatments are not first-line therapies. When used, they are offered only as adjunctive care within a medical framework.

Our Approach

We use a conservative and selective model. Peptide therapy is introduced only after careful evaluation and only when it appears clinically appropriate.

Adjunctive: Used as supportive care, not as a primary treatment.

Selective: Only a small number of peptides are considered.

Measured: Treatment is continued only when there is a clear clinical reason to do so.

Monitored: Response, tolerability, and side effects are reviewed over time.

Important Considerations

Peptide therapies used for psychiatric symptoms are typically off-label and not FDA-approved for that purpose. The evidence base is more limited than for standard treatments, and response can be variable, modest, or absent.

These therapies are generally not covered by insurance. Risks, benefits, alternatives, expected costs, and the experimental nature of treatment are reviewed before proceeding.

Who May Be a Candidate?

This approach may be considered for individuals with incomplete response to TMS or medications, persistent anxiety or stress-related symptoms, or sensitivity to medication side effects.

Example: Selank

Selank is a peptide studied for potential anxiolytic effects. Use is individualized and limited to appropriate clinical scenarios.

Our Philosophy

We do not chase trends or offer broad peptide regimens. Our goal is to expand treatment options carefully, with clinical judgment, restraint, and transparency guiding every recommendation.

Take the Next Step

If you are interested in whether peptide therapy may be appropriate for you, this can be discussed as part of a comprehensive evaluation.
